Latest condition of Flood discharge

At about 09.00 p.m tonight Tenughat reservoir started discharging water @95,000 Cusec approximately as the inflow raised in 2,01000 Cusec by that time. Last night Himgiri and Lalgarh under the state of Jarkhand witnessed heavy rainfall from 02.00 a.m to 05.00 a.m causing massive inflow in the Tenughat Dam which is a contributory to the inflow of Panchet Dam. The later received an inflow @1,15000 Cusec while released @80,000 Cusec after moderation. Maithon discharged @4,000 Cusec as usual while the inflow is @18000 Cusec.
At about 09.00 a.m water reserve at the Tenughat Dam reportedly touches 860.98 mt while it can officially encroaches land for maintaining the  permissible height of 852 mt approximately. Maithon now maintains a height of 483.23 mt while Panchet has a pick of 477.85 right now.
Since the release from  both the Maithon & Panchet reservoirs inevitably reaches Durgapur barrage which has no capacity for moderation of its inflow, the discharge down Durgapur is around 96125 Cusec (including the combined discharged of Maithon & Panchet @84,000 Cusec ) as of now. It is expected that the run off time of water from Tenughat reservoir which is not under the unified control of DVC will reach Panchet by 10 to 12 hours. And a heavy discharge from Panchet will take at least 10 hours to reach Durgapur, it is presumed that the down Durgapur discharge may rise @ 1,20,000 Cusec approximately. Another 10 to 12 hours time is roughly needed to reach Pursurah area.
However, now there has been very little rainfall in the Damodar Catchement area. Lets hope for improvement, unless nature thinks otherwise.
